- M a c r o P I K ' r (version 1.5)
-
-
- MacroPIK'r is a data conversion utility. It can read, browse,
- convert, extract, edit and write:
-
- o Standard (ASCII) text (up to 2000 characters wide, any
- length), mainframe reports;
- o Lotus WKS, WRK, WK1, & WR1;
- o dBASE;
- o DIF (Data Interchange Format);
- o Delimited (with any delimiter);
- o SYLK (Microsoft); and
- o Fixed length record files.
-
- MacroPIK'r can use MACROs to automate repeated operations.
-
- It can clean up messy numbers (trailing "CR" or "-", European and
- metric formats) and even transpose rows into columns. Extensive
- data editing capabilities are available.
-
- Installing MacroPIK'r on a Hard Disk
-
- MacroPIK'r comes as a "self-extracting archive" called
- "MPIK.EXE". There is too much information to fit on one diskette
- in uncompressed form. There are two steps to go through here:
-
- 1. Know where the MPIK.EXE archive file is. If you got it
- from a disk catalog it will be on a floppy; in this case
- you would type "a:mpik" or "b:mpik", depending on which
- drive you put it in. If you got it from a BBS or
- Information Service it will be in the directory where your
- downloads usually end up. Just type the path name to this
- directory and then "mpik".
-
- 2. Then decide where to put MacroPIK'r and its files. We
- strongly recommend using a hard disk. If your normal hard
- disk is "C", then you would use that. Then decide what
- path name to use. We recommend "\mpik".
-
- Here are some examples:
-
- a:mpik c:\mpik The archive is on a floppy in drive A and you
- are putting its files in directory "\mpik" in
- the root of hard drive C:.
-
-
- README.DOC page 2
-
-
-
- mpik d:\mp The archive is in the "current directory",
- wherever that is, and you are extracting its
- files into "\mp" on hard drive D:.
-
- mpik c:\util Same as above, except you are putting the
- MacroPIK'r files in a (perhaps already
- existing) directory called "\util" on C:.
-
- Experienced users: syntax is "[arc_path]MPIK [to_path]".
- MPIK.EXE is an "LHA" self extracting archive.
-
- Getting Started
-
- The first thing to do is print out the quick guide "mpquick.doc".
- Or, if you prefer, just start MacroPIK'r and begin to explore its
- capabilities:
-
- C:\MPIK>print mpquick.doc
- C:\MPIK>mpik'r
-
- How to Register
-
- MacroPIK'r is a shareware product. You can pass it around as
- much as you like. However, if you find it useful and keep using
- it, please "Register" your copy. This then gives you a license
- to use it -- read the license for more details. To register,
- just print the ORDER FORM "mp_order.frm", fill it out, and send
- it in.
-
- List of Files
-
- Here is a list of the files that make up the MacroPIK'r kit:
-
- mp-order.frm The order form/invoice/feedback -- print this file
- and send it in!
- mpik'r.exe This is the MacroPIK'r program.
- mpik'r.hlp This is the MacroPIK'r on-line help file.
- mpmanual.doc This is the User Manual for MacroPIK'r. It is
- about 95 pages long, and it is formatted so that
- it will print on any printer.
- mpquick.doc This is a condensed version of the manual. It is
- 12 pages long. It is also formatted for printing
- on any printer.
-
